Preseason 2010:
This year’s club participation focused on OC1 and relay events, and there were no club entries in any of the early season distance events. Three generations of Napoleons made their mark in a number of races beginning with the Kanaka Ikaika events. Aaron, Sepa and Riggs entered most of the races along with Gaylord Wilcox, Pete Caldwell, and several others. Besides his breakthrough performances in SUP races, 12-year old Riggs paddled past a lot of surprised adults and was a top three finisher in the 18-year and under category. Aaron topped off the series with a 5th overall and first in his division in the States race while Gaylord took first in the Short Course 60+ category.
Aaron powers up for the finish of the solo Moloka’i race where he finished 11th overall and first in the 40+ division. Relay races saw the Nappy/Gaylord tandem in action while Aaron raced with different partners. In the Kaua’i Challenge, Gaylord and Nappy were second in the 60+ division while Aaron and partner David Beck were third in 40+. Riggs and Alex Look took home the first place medal in their division as well. Aaron and his Aussie partner Mike Mills-Thon were 7th in the Moloka’i Relay race and first again in 40+. Before heading off to Tahiti for a SUP tour event (3rd), Aaron was joined by Sepa and Riggs on Maui for the Olu Kai Ho’olaulea races competing in both SUP and OC1 races.
